Limitations

  • Encoding is applied to the whole input; it does not selectively encode only the query portion of a full URL.

FAQ

What does %20 mean in a URL?

It is the percent-encoded space character. Each %XX sequence is one UTF-8 byte written in hexadecimal.

When do I need to URL-encode a value?

Whenever a value placed in a URL can contain reserved characters — spaces, &, ?, =, #, non-ASCII letters — such as query parameters and path segments.
