Image Cropper
Draw a crop box on your image, lock it to a common aspect ratio or type exact pixel coordinates, and save the cropped area at its original resolution. The image is decoded and cropped in your browser and never uploaded.
or click to browse — JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF · nothing is uploaded
How to use
- Drop an image onto the drop zone or click to choose one.
- Pick an aspect ratio — Free, Original, 1:1, 4:3, 3:2, 16:9, 9:16 or 4:5 — if you need a fixed shape.
- Drag the box to move it and its handles to resize it, drag across the image to draw a new box, or type exact X, Y, width and height in pixels.
- Optionally rotate the image by 90° or flip it before cropping.
- Choose PNG, JPEG or WebP and click Crop & download. The file is saved as <name>-cropped.<ext> at full resolution.
Examples
IMG_3310.jpg 4032×3024 → largest centred square 3024×3024 at X 504, Y 0 Saved as IMG_3310-cropped.jpg (3024×3024)
screenshot.png 1920×1080, X 100, Y 50, Width 800, Height 600 Saved as screenshot-cropped.png (800×600)
Supported formats
- Input: JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF (first frame), BMP and AVIF — anything your browser can display. HEIC/HEIF works only in browsers that can decode it, such as Safari.
- Output: PNG, JPEG or WebP with adjustable quality for JPEG and WebP. The default is the input's own format when it is JPEG, PNG or WebP, otherwise PNG.
Privacy
This tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter or open is sent anywhere. Privacy policy.
Limitations
- Saving re-encodes the image, so EXIF, GPS and other metadata are removed. Photos are turned upright using their EXIF orientation before you crop.
- Colour profiles are not carried over: the browser converts to sRGB, so wide-gamut (Display P3) photos can look slightly less saturated.
- Animated GIFs and animated WebP/AVIF files become a single still frame.
- JPEG and WebP output is lossy; choose PNG to keep the cropped pixels exactly, at the cost of a larger file.
- Very large images are limited by the browser's canvas memory — phones in particular may fail to rotate or save photos of 50+ megapixels.
FAQ
Does cropping reduce the image quality?
The crop itself keeps every pixel at its original resolution — nothing is scaled. Quality only changes when the result is encoded: PNG keeps the pixels exactly, while JPEG and WebP are lossy, so use a high quality setting (90 or more) if you want them close to the original.
How do I crop a photo to a square for a profile picture?
Choose the 1:1 preset. The largest centred square is selected; drag it over the face, resize it from a corner (it stays square) and click Crop & download.
Can I enter the crop size in pixels?
Yes. The X, Y, Width and Height fields are in pixels of the full-size image and stay in sync with the box. With an aspect ratio locked, changing the width updates the height to match.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The image is decoded, cropped and encoded on a canvas in your browser, and the page makes no network request with it.
