Crop PDF
Cut away white borders, scanner edges or printer marks: set how much to trim from each side, watch the crop outline on a preview of the page, and download the cropped PDF. The file is processed on your device.
Cropping hides, it does not delete. The trimmed area stays in the file and anyone can uncrop it with a PDF editor. Don't use cropping to remove names, numbers or other sensitive content — that needs redaction.
or click to browse — nothing is uploaded
How to use
- Drop a PDF onto the drop zone or click to browse. The first page appears as a preview.
- Choose millimetres or % of the page size, then enter how much to trim from the top, bottom, left and right — or drag the blue edges on the preview.
- Use Prev / Next or the page number to check the crop on other pages, especially if the pages differ in size.
- Leave “Pages to crop” blank for the whole document, or enter pages like 1,3-5.
- Click “Crop & download” to save <name>-cropped.pdf.
Examples
210 × 297 mm → 180 × 267 mm
8.5 × 11 in → 8.5 × 8.8 in (CropBox 0 79.2 612 712.8)
Supported formats
- Input: standard, unencrypted PDF files up to 200 MB, including documents that mix page sizes and rotated pages.
- Output: the same PDF with a new CropBox on each selected page (and optionally a matching MediaBox). Text stays selectable and nothing is re-rendered.
Privacy
Your input is processed in your browser and is never uploaded. The first time you use the tool, your browser downloads its open-source processing library from cdnjs.cloudflare.com — the library is downloaded, your data is not sent. Privacy policy.
Limitations
- Cropping is not redaction. The trimmed area is hidden by the page's CropBox but its text and images stay in the file, and any PDF editor can restore it. Use a redaction tool to remove sensitive content.
- Margins are measured from the area currently visible: if a page is already cropped, the new crop is cut from that, not from the full sheet.
- In % mode each page is cropped by the same share of its own size; in mm mode every page loses the same distance. Pages that are too small for the margins stop the crop with an error naming the page.
- Password-protected PDFs must have the password removed first. The file size usually stays about the same, because the hidden content is kept.
FAQ
Can someone see what I cropped off?
Yes. Cropping sets the CropBox, which tells readers which part of the page to show. The hidden text and images are still inside the PDF, and anyone can reset the box in an editor. For confidential material, use redaction instead of cropping.
How are rotated pages handled?
Top, bottom, left and right always mean the sides as you see the page on screen. For a page stored sideways with a /Rotate value, the tool maps your margins onto the correct edges of the underlying page box.
What does “Remove the cropped area from the page box” change?
By default only the CropBox changes, which is what PDF viewers use. Ticking the option also shrinks the MediaBox, the physical page size, so print workflows and editors that ignore the CropBox see the smaller size too. Either way the content outside is still in the file.
Does cropping reduce quality?
No. The pages are not rasterised or recompressed; only the page boxes change, so text stays sharp and searchable.
