Privacy policy
What happens to your data on ITInfoByte, written plainly. Last updated 12 October 2026.
The short version
- Files you open and text you paste into a tool are processed in your browser. They are not uploaded to ITInfoByte, and there is no server that could receive them.
- 3 tools (What Is My IP Address, DNS Record Lookup and SPF, DKIM & DMARC Checker) must contact a third-party service to work. They are labelled Uses API.
- Google Analytics is used only if you click Accept. If you reject it, or ignore the banner, the analytics script is never loaded.
- Your pinned tools, recently used tools, theme and privacy choice are saved in your own browser's local storage and never sent to us.
Who runs this site
ITInfoByte (itinfobyte.com) is a personal project built and maintained by Amirtham, an individual based in Chennai, India; there is no company behind it. Amirtham is responsible for this site and this policy. For any privacy question or request, email amir@itinfobyte.com.
How the tools handle your data
The tools are JavaScript programs that run inside your browser tab. When you choose a file, your browser reads it into memory on your device; the tool processes it there and offers the result as a download generated on your device. ITInfoByte has no upload endpoint and no database of user content. Closing or reloading the tab discards everything the tool was holding.
Tools that use an external service
These tools cannot work without asking a server on the internet, so your request goes directly from your browser to that service, under its own privacy policy:
- What Is My IP Address? — This tool queries the ipapi.co service to read your public IP and its registration data. Only the standard request your browser makes anyway is involved; nothing else is sent.
- DNS Record Lookup — Lookups are sent to dns.google (Google Public DNS over HTTPS). The queried domain name is visible to that resolver, as with any DNS query.
- SPF, DKIM & DMARC Checker — DNS lookups are sent to dns.google (Google Public DNS over HTTPS). Only DNS names are sent: the domain you enter, names built from it such as _dmarc.<domain> and <selector>._domainkey.<domain>, and the names its own records point to (SPF includes and DMARC report domains). If you paste an email address, only the part after @ is used; the rest never leaves this page.
Tools that download a library
Some tools rely on open-source libraries (for example pdf-lib and pdf.js for PDFs). The first time you use one, your browser downloads the library from cdnjs.cloudflare.com, a public CDN run by Cloudflare. Like any web request this reveals your IP address and browser type to Cloudflare, but your files and input are not part of the request. These tools are: QR Code Generator, Merge PDF, Split PDF / Extract Pages, Rotate PDF, Images to PDF (JPG, PNG, WebP), PDF to Images (JPG / PNG), Extract Text from PDF, Add Watermark to PDF, Add Page Numbers to PDF, Sign PDF, JSON ⇄ YAML Converter, SQL Formatter, HTML / CSS / JS Beautifier, Markdown Editor & Preview, PDF Page Organizer, Crop PDF, PDF Metadata Editor, Bulk Image Resizer, Htpasswd Generator & Checker, Bcrypt Hash Generator & Verifier, WiFi QR Code Generator, TOTP / 2FA Code Generator & Validator.
Analytics and cookies
With your consent, the site uses Google Analytics 4 (provided by Google) to understand how many people visit and which tools are useful. Until you click Accept, the Google Analytics script is not loaded at all, no analytics cookies are set, and nothing is sent to Google Analytics. The site uses Google Consent Mode with all storage denied by default.
If you accept, Google Analytics receives:
- the pages you view, the referring page, and the time of the visit;
- device, browser, screen size and approximate location (country/city), which Google derives from your IP address;
- a small set of events we send: which tool was opened, whether a tool reported success or an error, the file type of a download (for example "pdf"), which category was viewed, and that the tool search was used along with the number of results. A search term is only included when it is short and contains letters and spaces only, so that pasted codes, numbers or secrets are never sent.
Google Analytics never receives the contents of your files, file names, text you paste, tokens, passwords or tool output.
When analytics is accepted, Google Analytics sets first-party cookies named _ga and _ga_<ID> to distinguish visits. Their lifetime is controlled by Google Analytics; see Google's documentation on Analytics cookies. Analytics data is retained according to the data-retention setting of this site's Google Analytics property. Learn how Google uses this data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
You can change your choice at any time:
Rejecting after you previously accepted stops further analytics and deletes the _ga cookies this site can access.
Data stored in your browser
The site stores a few small values in your browser's localStorage. They never leave your device:
itb-consent— your analytics choice and the date you made it;itb-favs— the tools you pinned with ★;itb-recent— the last five tools you opened;itb-theme— your light or dark theme choice, only if you picked one (if you keep the default, nothing is stored and the site follows your device setting).
Some tools also remember their own settings locally where noted on the tool. You can remove everything at once:
Services that deliver the site
- Hosting: pages are served by Google's Firebase Hosting. As with any website, the hosting provider processes your IP address, browser type and the address requested in order to deliver the page and protect the service.
- Fonts: the typefaces are served from this site; no third-party font service is contacted.
- Libraries: cdnjs.cloudflare.com, as described above, only when you use a tool that needs one.
- DNS: the domain's DNS is provided by Cloudflare.
If you email us
If you write to amir@itinfobyte.com, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. It is used only to reply and to improve the site, and is not shared or used for marketing.
Your choices and rights
Because the tools do not send your content to us, we hold no copy of your files or input. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your data-protection authority. To exercise these rights for emails you sent us, contact amir@itinfobyte.com. For Google Analytics data, you can withdraw consent above; that data is not linked to your name or email by us.
Children
The site is a general-purpose tool collection and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
